My laundry is upstairs in one of the two-story homes off Sonoma Mountain Parkway. Where does that vent actually go?

Almost always up and out through the roof. Those post-1985 tracts stack the laundry on the second floor, so the duct climbs through a wall or ceiling chase and turns two or three times before it reaches the roof cap.
